in 1958 (cf. Estudio sobre Cuba, 1963). During most of 2001,
the Cuban peso traded at CUP 21 to US$1. The Cuban central bank
offically devalued the peso in Oct. 2001 to the current exchange rate
of CUP 26 to US$1.
